VivoPower, through its subsidiary J.A. Martin, designed, built, and commissioned a 3.6 MW solar facility at Cubbie Station, the largest irrigation property in the Southern Hemisphere. The project is owned by Cubbie Ag, the largest cotton producer in Australia.
The project, specifically engineered to best match the station’s unique seasonal energy demand profile, is the first stage in a plan to expand the facility from 3.6 MW to 7.2 MW, including a battery storage element and the potential to supply electricity to the nearby towns of Dirranbandi and St George.
Highlights:
- 40% reduction of Cubbie Station’s annual grid electricity consumption
- Cost savings of AUD$400,000 per year or more
- Additional revenue through sales of excess solar energy and renewable certificates
